Toyota engines: 12V, 8V, 6 cylinder and 4 cylinder beasts

One can only stand back in awe when thinking about all the different types of Toyota engines exist, each with its own capabilities. This Japanese motor manufacturer has been building a Toyota engine for each of three broadest categories of car engines: 4 cylinders, 6 cylinders, 8 cylinders and even 12 cylinders. Being pioneers of twin-cam technology, Toyota has provided us with top engineered products of world class for the standard as well as specialized consumer.

Toyota’s V12 engine, coded 1GZ-FE is the big bad boy this manufacturer can show off. This wonder of technology is a 12 cylinder engine Currently this 4-valve DOHC monster can only be found in Century limousines in Japan. With an incredible displacement of 5.0 liters and a compression ratio of 10.5:1 this motor is certainly the most powerful one yet.

Following the V12, comes the biggest V8 engine by Toyota, the 2UZ-FE. With an impressive displacement capacity of 4.7 liters and a twin cam setup for 32 valves, this respectable motor exerts a potent torque at 422N. The big Toyota off-road vehicles use this engine for maximum capacity.

The well known 2JZ-GTE engine is Toyotas most powerful 6 cylinder engine. These 3.0 engines displace at 3.0 liters, pulling off a strong torque rated at 451 Nm. With a twin turbo and special intercooler configuration, this engine can really knock off some serious speeds.

Finally, on the top of Toyotas 4 cylinder chain the 3S-GTE is the star. With a displacement of 2.0 liters, DOHC 16 valve turbo and a 8.5:1 compression ratio you can expect the engine to exert a torque of 240 Nm.
