:: nissan used engines :: The 240SX is widely known in the car enthusiast
circles for it’s wide array of possibilities in swapping different
Nissan used engines. And this is specially so for the respected RB
series engines. Nissan RB series engines come in a variety of models
each depending on how much displacement they have. There are basically 4
different motors when the displacement is taken into consideration:
2.0L, 2.5L, 2.6L and yes, 3.0L. Since externally these engines are
almost identical, it means that all of them can potentially fit in your
240SX. All these engines rate around 200- 300 HP approximately, crushing
the 240SX’s stock engine, the KA24DE that gives up from 140 to 155 HP.
Making an RB swap into a 240SX is very popular, this is a good thing for
the newbie looking for support and backup. A typical swap in this case requires a kit that you can either assemble yourself or let a pro get it done if you don’t feel prepared. These kits usually consist of the engines themselves, the front clips, the transmission, electronics, and any new replacement part if the used engine is battered up in some way. A reasonable concern many swappers have with this engine is the availability of spare parts. Stuff like spark plugs and oil filters are pretty easy to find, while other parts such as the intakes might be a little more challenging to find. But this problem can easily be seen to be overcome since the popularity of these swaps is increasing with each passing year, thus a demand for spare parts is also in the rise.
