Enginestar.com - JDM engines: A quick and dirty guide about hybrid engine swapping. |

Out of all the JDM Honda parts, the B16A3 is one of the most valuable ones | |
|
:: JDM Honda parts :: JDM Honda parts such as the B16A3 from the 5th
generation SiRs and SiR IIs come as the most popular engines when
performing 4th Civic upgrades. The JDM Honda B16A3 is almost exactly the
same as the USDM B16A2, perhaps a little better because of the slightly
higher compression ratio. You can expect this difference since the
Japanese use higher octane fuel for their Hondas. Apart form this; you
can swap the JDM b16 motor with the standard parts that come with any
swapping kit. The imported Honda B16A3 doesn’t bolt in directly to the
engine bay, but its low cost makes it worth purchasing the
aforementioned kit and related parts to get it done. An important part to consider when installing this JDM engine is the transmission. These are fairly easy to find since they consist of any B-series transmission either local or imported that are cable operated. Some examples include the S1 or the J1 transmission. As for the next part, the ECU, use a B16A ECU or a B17A ECU. Other parts needed for this import engine are the following: axles, shift linkage and necessary wiring components. You might want to get a specialized conversion harness to extract the benefits of VTEC and be able to plug in all the necessary wires. As for the clutch cable you can use the stock 4th generation cable.
