Enginestar.com - JDM engines: A quick and dirty guide about hybrid engine swapping. |
|
JDM engine + local car = a Hybrid !! | |
|
:: JDM engine :: With a JDM engine and a local automobile you can
build what is commonly referred to as a hybrid. A hybrid is nothing more
than a car whose engine has been replaced by some other engine different
from its original. For example, dropping in a JDM motor into a US
manufactured car would create hybrid because of the modification.
However, making a hybrid is not always as simple as dropping in the
motor. Depending on your ambition, patience, knowledge and wallet things
can get pretty wild when considering a JDM swap. Some motors require a
complete car makeover which means that you have to plan on changing
everything that relates to the engine such as transmission, distributor,
ECU and so on. Rebuilding and optimizing a motor can only go so far, but making a hybrid really has the biggest potential. With low mileage import engines, the thing gets even more exciting, because you can get really freaky with all the possible setups. Consider a Honda Civic running with the power of an Honda accord simply by adjusting the overall motor setups and mount. Or even better, consider the same project but with an added turbo charger, imagine the speed that car could pull off! Due to the unlimited project potentials you can go through with a JDM swap, it’s important you closely study all the possible engines that can fit your car before making your decision.
