Giving life to a Honda hybrid: B16A engine into a 5G Civic | |
|
:: Honda hybrid :: Creating a Honda hybrid that consists of a first
generation B16A engine into a 5th gen. Civic is an interesting
experiment. This Honda civic hybrid would use an engine extracted for a
JDM Integra XSi or a JDM Civic SiR. Hybridizing the Civic would consist
in 6 mayor modifications that include the following components: Axles,
mounts, distributor, ECU, transmission, and the longblock. Concerning
the mounts, you can either have the custom made or use other compatible
hybrid mounts such as those found in the first Acura Integra B series.
You could get the axles used for a lower cost, just make sure they show
no sign of visible wear. There are different ways to go with when it comes to the transmission for this hybrid Honda setup. S4C, GSR or type R hydraulic transmissions are all viable options for the hybridizer to consider. A S4C transmission can offer the best compatibility with this engine, offering a stable drive for your Civic. All these modifications can fit a budget of under 2 grand including the engine, depending on the brands, and if the replacement parts are used or not. To satisfy OBD1 standards use an OBD1 ECU, saturated injectors and distributors. Fitting these parts into the puzzle can give you a general idea of what it takes to complete your hybridization project.
