Honda engine swaps: ZC in a 4th generation Civic | |
|
:: Honda engine swaps :: Out of all the Honda engine swaps, the ZC engine
in the 4th generation Civic is one of the simplest to pull off. This
Honda engine swap involves the famous JDM engine that goes by the code
of ZC. This engine was produced originally for the Japanese 88-91 Civic
Si’s so you can expect to find a relatively wide supply. Price doesn’t
seem to be an issue for this engine; lots are imported from Japan at
competitive prices. The greatest thing about this swap is that you get
an average 10-30 HP boost depending on your 4th generation Honda model.
Furthermore, swapping the engines is as simple as dropping it without
having to go through difficult modification and engineering processes. Since this engine is actually a D series motor you can use both the D16A8 and D16A Tranny. For maximum compatibility and smoothness use the native ZC tranny that may or may not come with the motor in question. As for the ECU (Engine Control Unit) swap you can use the Integra’s D16A6, D16A1, D16A2 or simply stick with the ZC ECU, since all of these are compatible with the OBD0 standards that the engines possess. As for the wiring, axles and other components involved in a successful swap, you can enjoy the benefit of using the 4th generation Civic parts since they are all compatible. Having done this you can enjoy a hybrid Honda car with more power than the standard.
