Honda Civic performance

Enginestar.com - JDM engines: A quick and dirty guide about hybrid engine swapping.

Be creative and boost up your Honda Civic performance!

The ways you can fool around with Honda Civic performance makes it good fun to play with all the possibilities. Out of all the Honda Civic parts, maybe the engine is the most fun to mess with since Honda presents a great range of compatibility between the cars it produces. One specific example comes down to adapting a B20 series motor in a 5th gen. Civic. The 97-98 US version of the Honda CRV featured this motor with the following performance: an average horsepower of 130 and a torque of an equal 130 lb-ft. Apart from the motor, all the other CRV parts where pretty much expendable, it was quite pleasing to know that the B20 motor would bolt in Civics with no mayor hassle involved in the process.

Since B-series engines are known to be very viable parts use for a Honda Civic hybrid project, it can get fairly easy to perform the swap. As in other B-series adaptations, you’ll need certain parts to make your car able to breath with this new motor. The standards all fall into the shopping list: engine mounts, axles, hydraulic transmission, intake manifold and throttle cable. The Honda CRVs transmission won’t work because it’s setup to work with four wheel drive, very different from the two wheel drive that a Civic sports. As for the ECU, a P75 is definitely in order for the engine to perform correctly.
