engine swap Honda

Enginestar.com - JDM engines: A quick and dirty guide about hybrid engine swapping.

Factors involved in an engine swap for the Honda Civic.

To make an engine swap for a Honda nowadays is infinitely easier than it was a few years ago. This is because swapping kit making companies such as Place Racing, HCP and HASport have sprouted out to satisfy the engines increasing swap Honda demand. Depending on what engine swap you’re thinking of pulling off, these kits may come with more or less parts. The most basic component of any motor swap is the engine mounts. In some instances, like when swapping an H22A into a 95 Civic, the engine won’t bolt in because there’s not sufficient space. These swap kits come to the rescue by providing modified mounts to make the motor drop in a smooth fashion. Another important component, depending on your swap, is the shift linkage.

Although many Hondas may already come equipped with the shift linkage that’s compatible with the engine in question, most times they won’t. This is especially so for older 3rd and 4th generation civics that don’t come with this advantage. Of course, modifying the stock shift linkage is always an option, but many people don’t have the necessary knowledge or ability to do this. Another part that you can commonly expect in any swap kit for your Honda is the axles. Make sure that the axle you plan on installing in your engine is rated at sufficient HP to handle all the power. One of the other principal factors in engines swapping is the wiring modification involved. Some companies might offer custom wiring harnesses that help you overcome this obstacle.
