:: custom Civic :: There are so many exciting ways of giving life
to a custom Civic. As explained in other articles in this website,
getting an underused JDM engine
under the hood is a marvelous way of making custom Civics, also known as
hybrids. In this particular article we’ll talk about getting the
prodigious B18C engine inside a 6th generation Civic. Amongst the B18C
series, three slightly motors can be found that go by the codes of:
B18C, B18C1 and B18C5, all found in Acura Integras of different models.
The B18C can be found inside the JDM Integra type R and the JDM Integra
SiR. It should be noted that the version found inside the type R
vehicles has 21 HP more than the one found in the SiRs. The B18C5 found
in USDM Acura type R is almost exactly the same as the one founding the
JDM versions of the Acura, the difference in horsepower due to the
different octane fuel they use in Japan. The B18C1 is found in USDM Integra GS-Rs, but their slightly higher performance than the Civic’s original B16A may not make it worth the effort to swap, unless you count every single last HP count, of course. In any of the three cases, with further hybrid customization such as turbos, higher compression pistons and so on, can take you to even greater and unprecedented speeds. Customization is an art by its own right and for many customizing their Hondas may become even more exciting than driving the customized car itself.
